GeoChronicles of the Novara – Mapping the 1857–1859 Expedition is a historical geodatabase that presents, in a georeferenced format, the stopover locations, people encountered, institutions visited, documents, and collected specimens from the Austrian frigate Novara’s circumnavigation between 1857 and 1859. The database includes natural history specimens—those preserved at the Civic Museum of Natural History in Trieste and, to a lesser extent, some housed at the NHM-Museum of Natural History in Vienna—as well as ethnographic artifacts held by the Weltmuseum in Vienna.
